Alumni and Friends

DHC alumni, parents and community members support the activities and programs at the honors college, enhancing the honors experience as mentors and resources for current students. All DHC graduates, honors parents, and members of the community are encouraged to get involved through donations and gifts of their time and talent. Your support inspires new DHC students every year!

Recently, President Engstrom launched a new set of special campus-wide fundraising priorities, called ‘Investing in Student Success.’ Emphasizing a commitment to honors education, the President identified the Davidson Honors College as a special focus. Impact of Giving

The collective support of the DHC’s alumni, friends and parents provides transformational opportunities for our students! Just a few examples, include:

  • Funding for an innovative Undergraduate Research model that partners honors students with faculty mentors as they learn about research methodology.
  • Support for special, niche courses. In Fall 2013, the DHC was able to obtain a special, limited-edition of a Chaucer manuscript. Students in an Honors English seminar were able to study the manuscript, whose pages and text included ornate gold-leaf etching.
  • Support of critical scholarships, including 24 annual Presidential Leadership awards.
  • Stipends to allow students to travel and present their research findings at National and International conferences. This year, DHC Senior Kim Ledger won the student poster competition award in the category of Environmental Science, Sustainability and Green Technology at the annual conference of the National Collegiate Honors Council in New Orleans.
